Bankroll and risk profiles
Set your bankroll, unit, risk profile and loss limits so Unitley can size stakes, then track saved picks and placed bets.
Unitley sizes every stake from your bankroll settings. Set them during setup or under Settings → Bankroll. Until you do, Unitley can't size a stake or save a pick, and tools that need one answer: "Set up your bankroll first (Settings → Bankroll), then Unitley can size stakes."
Your settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Starting bankroll | Required. Money set aside for betting only, that you can afford to lose. |
| Unit size | % of bankroll: a unit grows and shrinks with your bankroll, from 0.1% to 10%. Flat $: a unit is the same dollar amount every bet, no more than your bankroll. The default is 1% of bankroll. |
| Risk profile | How big the suggested stakes are. The default is Balanced. |
| Daily loss limit | Optional. The most you want to lose in any 24 hours. It can't be more than the weekly limit. |
| Weekly loss limit | Optional. The most you want to lose in any 7 days. |
| Max stake per bet | Optional. The largest single bet you want to place. |
Your bankroll today is your starting bankroll plus the profit or loss of every settled bet. Stakes are sized from that. Read more in Units.
Risk profiles
Unitley sizes stakes with a fraction of the Kelly stake and a cap on any single bet. No profile uses full Kelly.
| Profile | Share of Kelly | Most of your bankroll on one bet | What it feels like |
|---|---|---|---|
| Conservative | Quarter Kelly | 2% | The smallest bets and the smallest swings. Your bankroll grows slowly. |
| Balanced | Third Kelly | 3% | Medium bets. Steady growth with swings you'll notice but can ride out. |
| Aggressive | Half Kelly | 5% | The biggest bets. Faster growth when you're right, sharper drops when you're not. |
You can change your profile any time. Your limits always apply on top. Read more in Kelly and stake caps.
How a stake is sized
For each bet, Unitley:
- works out the Kelly stake from the chance the bet wins and its price,
- takes your profile's share of it, capped at the profile's most per bet,
- holds it at or under your max stake,
- holds it within the room left under your daily and weekly loss limits,
- rounds it down to the cent.
A bet with no edge gets no stake. The room under a loss limit is the limit, less what your bets settled in the last 24 hours or 7 days have lost, less the stake on every open bet. Unitley always works out the stake itself, and ignores a stake an agent sends.
Picks
A pick is a saved recommendation card. The web analyst, Claude or another agent with a write token saves one with save_recommendation, and Unitley works out its numbers. Each card keeps the price and numbers from when it was saved; lines move after that.
Cards show on the Picks page and the Overview. On each card you can:
- Mark bet placed or Dismiss an open pick, and move it back to open later. This changes the card's status only. It doesn't log a bet.
- Delete a pick for good. A bet you logged from it stays in the Bet Log.
- Choose the Dismissed filter, then Delete all dismissed to clear them at once.
No tool deletes a pick; only you can, on the Picks page. An account holds up to 5,000 saved picks. Past that, saving fails until you delete old or dismissed ones.
The Bet Log
The Bet Log records the bets you place at your sportsbook. Log one by hand, or ask the web analyst, Claude or an agent with a write token (log_bet). A bet past your max stake or a loss limit is logged with a warning, not refused.
To settle a bet by hand, choose Won, Lost, Push (stake back) or Void (stake back), or Reopen it. Your bankroll, ROI and record update with it. Deleting a bet removes it from your log and your numbers, and can't be undone.
Auto-settling
Moneyline, spread and total bets tied to a game Unitley tracks settle on their own after the game ends. Unitley grades a final score once a second scores source agrees, or after a wait if that check can't be made. A tied two-way moneyline is a push. If a game is called off, settle its bets as Void by hand.
Everything else stays open until you settle it: props, parlays, and bets not tied to a game. When you log a bet by hand, pick its game in the Game field to tie it to one; leave the field on Not linked to a game and you settle it yourself. A bet you settle or edit first keeps what you set, and you can correct any result later. Agents with a write token can also settle with settle_bet. The web analyst can't.
The Bankroll page
The Bankroll page shows your bankroll and unit size, the room left under your loss limits, how much of your bankroll is riding on open bets, your risk profile, and your settings. The Overview shows the same split, with a line for each loss limit you set.
A loss limit caps how much you can lose in its window. It doesn't set any of your bankroll aside: the room under it is how much more you can lose, not how much of your bankroll you can use.
Loss limits warn you. They can't stop a bet, because you place bets with your sportsbook. For a hard stop, use your sportsbook's own limits or self-exclusion, and read about responsible gambling.
