Three ways to run Unitley
Run Unitley through Claude on your own plan, another agent over MCP or REST, or the web analyst on your own API key. What each needs and costs.
Unitley runs three ways. You choose one when you first set up, and you can change it any time under Settings → How you run Unitley. The choice only decides which setup steps you see. Everything stays available either way, and you can use more than one.
| Claude | Another agent | Web analyst | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Runs in | Claude Code or Claude Desktop | Any MCP client, or your own code over REST | The Analyst page in the console |
| You need | A Unitley access token | A Unitley access token | An Anthropic, OpenAI or OpenRouter API key |
| The AI runs on | Your Claude plan | Your agent's own model and provider | Your API key, billed by your provider |
| Tools | All 20 | All 20 | All but settle_bet |
The slate, the math tools, the parlay builder and the bet log work without any of them.
Claude, on your Claude subscription
This is the recommended way. Connect Unitley to Claude Code or Claude Desktop as an MCP server, and ask Claude about games, prices and stakes in the app you already use.
- What it needs. A Unitley access token from the Connect page, and Claude Code or Claude Desktop. Claude Desktop also needs Node.js, which runs the bridge it connects through.
- What it costs. It runs on your own Claude plan, with no API key needed. API keys are billed separately from a Claude subscription, and this way doesn't use one.
- Tools. Every tool Unitley offers. With a read-only token, tools that save to your account (log_bet, settle_bet and save_recommendation) are refused.
Set it up in Claude Code or Claude Desktop.
Another AI agent
Any agent that speaks MCP, such as Cursor or Hermes, connects the same way Claude does. Anything else can call Unitley's REST API, one HTTP request per tool call.
- What it needs. A Unitley access token. Give each app its own, so you can revoke one without touching the others.
- What it costs. Your agent runs on whatever model and provider you've set it up with, and that provider bills you as usual.
- Tools. The same tools as Claude, with the same rule for read-only tokens.
Start with Other agents, Any MCP client or the REST API.
The web analyst, on your own key
Chat with Unitley on the Analyst page, without installing anything. Save one API key in Settings → AI providers. One is enough.
- What it needs. An Anthropic, OpenAI or OpenRouter API key.
- What it costs. Your provider bills that key for each answer. API usage is billed separately from a Claude or ChatGPT subscription. The model picker shows each model's list price, and OpenRouter's free models are marked Free.
- Tools. The same tools, except
settle_bet: you settle bets by hand on the Bet Log. Jev'sjev_classifyappears only once you've saved a Jev key. The analyst has no web research.
Read the web analyst for models, costs and limits.
How to choose
- You already have a Claude plan. Use Claude Code or Claude Desktop, and no API key is needed.
- You have an agent you like. Connect it over MCP, or call the REST API from your own code.
- You want a chat in the browser. Use the web analyst, and expect your provider to bill each answer.
- More than one fits. Choose "More than one of these" when you set up. Each way uses the same account, bankroll, picks and bet log.
Tool calls from every way count against one budget for your account, 120 a minute. Each access token also has its own, 60 a minute. See Rate limits.
